Restore Your Inner Nature with Sunlight Meditation

Restore Your Inner Nature with Sunlight Meditation
SHARE
Hello to the members of CYE.com! This is Ilchi Lee.

Everyone wants to be healthy and happy, and everyone wants to be satisfied with their life. So why do people have such a hard time getting what they want so much? Why is it so hard?

It’s because we’re trying too hard to find the answers in the wrong places. We always think we need someone’s help to be healthy and happy, or we think we have to learn something or that certain conditions need to be met. The biggest reason we feel this way is because that’s how we’ve been conditioned and educated.

But real health, happiness, and satisfaction don’t come from outside of us, from artificial sources. They come from within, from what’s natural. People tend to think that nature is something outside of us, and we have to go outdoors to encounter it. However, you’re actually a part of nature; you can encounter it in yourself.

Identifying with nature becomes possible when you step out of the box of all of the preconceptions that have confined you until now and meet with the true life itself you have within you.

The "Solar Body" that I describe in my book refers to people who are not trapped in knowledge and thoughts, but have rediscovered their pure naturalness. They are, in essence, people of nature. The human body itself is an amalgamation of natural energy such as sunlight, water, air, and food. It enters the body and produces a moderate temperature, maintaining your vitality even in this moment now.

Through meditation such as the sunlight meditation below, recharge with solar energy and experience a sense of nature and life awakening inside of you.

If you walk for a while as you take in some sunshine, you will feel the noisy chatter of thoughts in your head gradually quieting down.

After walking, face the sun and sit with your lower back straight. Place your hands on your knees, palms facing up, and relax your chest and shoulders. Close your eyes and smile very slightly.

Enjoy the sunlight pouring down on your whole body. Imagining your body to be a solar panel, visualize receiving and being charged with energy. Move your awareness down your body—from face to shoulders, arms, chest, abdomen, and legs—imagining warm sunshine melting each part in turn.

Lifting your head slightly, commune with the solar energy shining down on your face. As you very slowly turn your head from side to side, try to feel the colors of light changing before your closed eyes. When you face the sun you’ll sense a bright golden light, and when you turn slightly to the side you’ll perceive oranges and reds. Commune with the solar energy in the colors.

Stop moving your head and receive the solar energy coming into your face, into your whole body. Store it in your lower abdomen—in your “energy center.” Keep visualizing as you feel your lower abdomen growing warmer. End the training when you feel that your whole body, including fingers and toes, has been warmed sufficiently.

After this sunlight meditation, I hope you feel the warm love of your inner nature. I would love to know what you experienced. Please share it in the comments below.

If you benefited from this sunlight meditation, please share it with others. Your energy grows double and triple when you share.

Caution: Being exposed to very strong sunlight for too long can be damaging to your body because of the intense ultraviolet light. In the summer, just five minutes could be enough. Avoid the most intense sunlight, around noon.

I meditated for the first time ever this morning with the sun. My head moved side to side almost as if some type of force was doing it just naturally. It rolled my neck in a circle and titled my head back to observe the sun once I realized I wasn't moving my head I opened my eyes and looked into the clouds I felt an energy come over my entire body and tears rolled down my face. In that moment I felt calm and one with the sun.

Thank you for sharing. Reading your comments is a big joy for me. I'm in New Zealand right now, where the winter weather brings more rain than sun. But even on a cloudy day, you can do Sunlight Meditation. Focus inside yourself and imagine sunlight coming into you and warming your insides. The connection of your brain and body will create the same effect as real sunlight. I hope you often recharge yourself in your daily life, and by doing so, discover true freedom.

I did this meditation several times and found how much my body loves the sun, the wind and the drizzle of rain. I can fee my body absorb the elements and finally truly understand why I feel good when I am hiking running and outside.

I felt recharged in the sunlight!  I could feel the sun sinking down into my core and all the muscles in my body relaxed.  I feel rejuvenated.  Thank you Ilchi Lee for allowing me to experience nature in a whole new way.  With this concept, I feel much more connected and I feel my body is very precious, just like nature.

Taking in the sunlight and living inside your body inside this world. Finding happiness not in the little things that come to us as gifts from the world, but in the joy within.

I love basking in the sunlight and to now have this wonderful meditation to do as I fill myself with the warm radiant rays of the sun, I am so excited. It is raining now, but I can't wait until tomorrow to try it.
