Many principles about the universe (within and outside of us) that have been known and deeply felt by our ancestors, but not widely accepted by much of our modern society, are now being proven by modern science.
As Eastern philosophy and energy principles have made their way into the Western world, they are met with skepticism before they are embraced. But thankfully, technology is advancing in leaps and bounds, and we are now able to prove what was previously too esoteric for many to believe.
Recently, scientists found proof that meridians exist. The meridian system of the body is a series of channels or pathways running from the feet to the head and from the head to the hands, transporting Ki energy. Meridians can be likened to rivers of the body. Ki, also commonly spelled chi or qi, is the word for the vital energy that is the true essence of every creation in the cosmos.
There are 12 major meridians within our physical body that, along with the 7 chakras, make up our subtle body. The subtle body is energetic and while it cannot be physically seen, it is vibrant and active. This energy is balanced between feminine and masculine, yin and yang. The 12 meridians are divided between this polarity which also corresponds to the side of the body they are located on and the organs they pass through.
While this amazing discovery made by modern science doesn’t change anything about the philosophy of meridians, it does shift our modern consciousness so that we may be more open to sensing our innate energy. This can be done in many ways including meditation, breath work, physical movement and body tapping. When we tune in to our subtle body, we begin awakening to our true power and can more easily reach our maximum potential.
Body Tapping to Awaken Your Meridians
Although these energy channels are always within us, they can become dormant or inactive if not regularly stimulated. There are many ways in which you can awaken your meridians, but one of the best is by body tapping.
This exercise not only helps you connect your mind to your body, but it also allows you to sense the Ki energy within and reconnect you to the flow of energy. By starting at the top of your head and working all the way down to your feet, you are essentially knocking on the door of your subtle body, letting it know you are ready to connect and awaken to this ancient knowledge.
Just 15 minutes a day of body tapping and conscious breathing will help release tension that has built up and reopen the natural flow of your Ki energy through your body. When we have physical or energetic blockages, this is when illness and disease manifest. But a strong and steady current of energy flow will keep you healthy and aware of future blockages.
This video with energy master and yoga instructor Linda Yoonjin will introduce how you can raise the vibration of your energy. You’ll feel the effects immediately as you tingle with delight from awakening your subtle body!
Take note of the difference you feel from before you began the exercise. Sense the movement of energy and the slight tingles, warmth or vibration from within. It will be subtle at first, but the more you practice the more you will get to know your body and the unique vibration of your energy. As you amplify your awareness, so too will your energy increase and your ability to direct and channel it.
It is incredible what we continue to discover about the human body and thanks to modern science and ancient wisdom, we have all the tools we need to live our best and healthiest lives.
To your radiant health!
