10 Healthy Breakfast Ideas for a Busy Morning

10 Healthy Breakfast Ideas for a Busy Morning
SHARE
No matter how much you think it’s a cliché- breakfast really is the most important meal of the day. You can’t really start a busy day without giving your body fuel to work with. Yet, even though most of us are aware of this fact, we actively avoid breakfast simply because there’s no time. Either that, or we just buy something on the way there or replace the meal with a cup of coffee.

Though you haven’t passed out yet, this is a terrible practice for your body. Doing research on healthy and quick breakfast recipes is essential. It’s time to start prioritizing your breakfast in the morning instead of avoiding it for the sake of other things.

It might be a challenge at first because you’re not used to having breakfast, but soon enough, you won’t be able to go without it. These ideas will help you get on the right track and feed your body the way it needs. Once you start eating regularly in the morning, you’re bound to have much more energy and motivation to get on with your workday.

1. Oatmeal with an Egg
Even though this sounds like an unlikely combination, you’ll soon discover that oatmeal can, in fact, be savory. This unconventional take on an old favorite just brings the flavor to a whole other level. The recipe is super easy to make, as all you have to do is quick cook the oats in the microwave with cheddar cheese, diced red pepper, and onion, and top it with an over-easy egg.

The simple process makes this the perfect recipe for mornings where you feel like eating something unique without having to spend much time on preparation.

2. Blueberry Almond Oats
With a combination of oats, chia seeds, vanilla, almond milk, and maple syrup, you’ll get the nutritious breakfast you need. Oats are the perfect choice for those who are extremely busy and simply can’t spare a minute in the morning to make themselves breakfast. This is because the oats are meant to be prepared in the evenings. You’ll make your breakfast, put it in the fridge, and enjoy it in the morning without feeling like you’re wasting time or that you’re late.

Don’t worry, you don’t have to always eat it cold, either. You can simply pop the oats in the microwave for a minute or two to heat them up when you’re in the mood for a warm breakfast.

3. Berry Yogurt Smoothie
Those who aren’t really used to eating in the morning but realize they need to have a healthy breakfast should try making smoothies. This way, your tummy will be full and you’ll be ingesting the nutrients you need. A smoothie is also good because you can drink it on the way to work or at the office, just like you drink your morning coffee.

A yogurt and berry smoothie is just the thing you need to pick you up in the morning. It’s fresh, tasty, and contains all the nutrients you need. Aside from berries, you should also put a banana and nuts in your smoothie. This will give it a nice base and make it more filling and energizing. For the most creamy effect, mix Greek yogurt and milk into your smoothie.

4. Quinoa Fruit Salad
A fruit salad can be a refreshing meal, especially when it’s hot outside even though it’s not even 9 am yet. Berries and mangoes in this salad can give it the texture it needs, while adding a scoop of quinoa will get you your daily dose of protein. Simply mix the salad and toss it until its well-mixed and the quinoa is evenly spread around.

Because this would be a bland combination otherwise, add some honey, lime, and basil and toss the salad again to coat it evenly.

5. Pumpkin Granola Yogurt Parfait
Parfaits are simply delicious regardless of the time of day you choose to eat them. There are many parfait combinations you can try, but this one might just be perfect for the upcoming fall season. Think of this as a new spin on your favorite Pumpkin Spice Latte.

To make the parfait, simply layer pumpkin pie cashew cream and plain Greek yogurt. Add a handful of granola and sprinkle some cinnamon. This is truly what fall tastes like. Those who have problems with eyes and those who never want to have them will be happy to know that pumpkin is a superfood rich in beta carotene, which is essential for eye health. The best part is that you can easily make this parfait as part of your meal prep routine then enjoy it multiple days of the week, as it can survive in the fridge.

6. Peanut Butter and Banana Smoothie
As another smoothie on the menu, this one is more fit for those with a sweet tooth. If you want a healthy sugar rush to kick start your day, you can always blend frozen bananas, soy milk, peanut butter, Greek yogurt, honey, and some ice cubes. Making your own delicious milkshake-like smoothie has never been easier. Of course, the difference is that this smoothie is much healthier than a conventional milkshake.

Drink this first thing at the office to boost your energy after that morning rush you had getting ready. You can also make the smoothie the night before you get to work then freeze it. This is an excellent hack for those who like to sleep in even when they shouldn’t or those who have simply hectic morning routines. This way, there will be no excuse to skip out on a healthy breakfast.

7. Tomato Toast with Macadamia “Ricotta”
If you’re vegan, you probably always looking for healthy breakfasts but only come across non-vegan variants. If you like classic summer sandwiches, you’ll love the tomato toast with Macadamia “Ricotta” as it is a vegan twist on a classic. Instead of mayo, a rich mixture of nuts, garlic, nutritional yeast, and miso paste is used. You can spread the fluffy mixture on whole-grain bread. Ripe tomatoes should be put on top. Don’t be afraid to mix different varieties of tomatoes for more flavors. Seasoning is also quite welcome, and basil or shiso leaves will go best with this sandwich. You can finish it off with some black pepper and kosher salt for taste. The best part? Making this sandwich only takes a few minutes. You’ll get the best of both worlds- a healthy breakfast without being late to work.

8. Egg muffins
If you want something you can easily pack in a container and carry away with you, you’ll love egg muffins. Not only are they delicious and take a very short time to make, but they’re also low-carb. This is perfect for those who are on a low-carb diet. You won’t have to skip a meal, you’ll still be healthy, but you’ll also stay on track of your diet. There’s nothing more fulfilling than nailing your dietary plan from the first meal of the morning. This gives you the motivation to keep going and eating healthy throughout the whole day.

9. Protein Pancakes
Conventional pancakes are more fit as a dessert than as breakfast as they don’t really give you much energy. Add protein to the pancake mix, though, and you’ve got a recipe for success. Learning how to make protein pancakes is also fairly easy. The important thing is to learn why you’re making them.

Protein gives you energy and fuels your muscles, which is exactly what you need the first thing in the morning. When you’ve got a busy day ahead of you and you’re running on no fuel, your body is going to drain the power it needs from your muscles. This is what causes you to lose muscle mass and become much weaker.

10. Pancake Mini Muffins
Since we’re on the topic of pancakes, you can also make pancake mini muffins. They’re delicious and bite-size, making them easy to pack and eat on the way or at the office. You can add different ingredients for different flavors, too. The easiest way to do this is to experiment with different fruits.

Pancake mini muffins are also convenient because you can make a batch which can last you for more than one day. This way, you’re only cooking once, but you’re still eating healthy more than one morning of the week.

Conclusion
Having reached the end of this article, you no longer have the excuse to skip your breakfast. Now you have some healthy and easy breakfast recipes that you can use on a day to day basis. As well as that, you can always choose to prep your meals and be done with breakfast even more quickly and easily.
