Through this unique fusion of Korean traditional sounds and mind-body exercises, you’ll connect to your inner rhythm and restore harmony to your body and mind. What Is Yullyeo?

 

Yullyeo is a Korean word that means the rhythm and order of the universe; everything has yullyeo. We don’t need to sit quietly and still in order to heal—with yullyeo, the focus is on excitement, happiness, and play. We ride on the rhythm of drums and other instruments, and have fun with our body in order to heal.


Sound and rhythm have been used by cultures around the world since ancient times to bring us back into balance. Sunpoong has researched and practiced his craft for many years to create music that invites you into deep resonance with life’s natural rhythms. Each session in this course uses traditional Korean percussion, flute instruments, and/or singing to immerse you in a dynamic meditation.

Rhythmic tapping of the dahnjon, the lower energy center in the body, creates Water Up, Fire Down—the optimal state of energy circulation.

Relaxing your intestines through this exercise promotes good digestion and elimination, blood and energy circulation, deep breathing, emotional wellness, and balance within the entire body.

International musician Sunpoong has long studied the power of rhythmic music, particularly music traditional to Korea. For more than 20 years, he has performed it to promote health, spirituality, and well-being. His music has often been used to complement the rhythmic exercises that are a major part of the Body & Brain Yoga practice, which also originated in Korea and which is based on the ancient Korean practice of Sundo. Sunpoong serves as the CEO of Poongryudo, which offers a system of mind-body training programs based on the traditional music of Korea, and is Director of the Ilchi Art Hall in Seoul, South Korea. He has made several music recordings.
