Chungsuk's Favorite CYE Tools for Circulating Energy

Chungsuks Favorite CYE Tools for Circulating Energy
SHARE
Chungsuk is currently a senior trainer with Brain & Body Yoga & Tai-chi and popular trainer in CYE's online course, "Basic Meridian Healing." He has taught yoga and tai chi, and has been studying energy meridians under the tutelage of Ilchi Lee since 1988. He does research through experience and training, runs meridian workshops, and offers private sessions.

I don't drink Hwangchil Tea every day, but instead as a healing tea when my condition isn't good and my body and mind are imbalanced. I use the tea in a loose-leaf form.

When I brew the tea in a mug, I put in about 2 to 3 teaspoons and let it sit for 3 to 5 minutes. When I'm finished, I brew a few more cups with the same tea and then leave some to brew overnight. After you drink it, you can feel the effects immediately.

Right away, your mood improves, your body grows warmer, and your energy circulates. Fatigue is instantly relieved and the life force within is reawakened. What's more, it moistens your skin and even makes you sweat.

Hwangchil Tea seems to be excellent for eliminating heavy metals and other contaminants from the body. In these modern days, many people live surrounded by pollution, and this tea cleanses the body of the contamination.

I also use Hwangchil tea when I cook. When I make chicken soup, for example, I like to put medicinal herbs (hedysarum, boxthorn fruit, licorice root, angelica root, etc.) and two spoons of Hwangchil Tea in the broth.

If you do gentle Dahnjon Breathing after your warming meal, your energy circulates very easily, accumulating and anchoring energy in your body. When the energy circulates, the heat sinks into your lower body and your head cools, which improves your mood. I get help from food in this way.

I fill my room with fragrance using an oil diffuser and Bird of the Soul Essential Oil. It clears the air and my head and makes me feel comfortable, which lets me get to sleep quickly. I also use it when I meditate or do training. It helps enable me to really be immersed in what I'm doing.

When I spray some mist in a room before a private session, everyone likes the smell, and I've noticed that it helps them ground their energy to the present moment.

Before I go to sleep, I always use a wooden pillow. I use it to relieve tension in my sacrum, where the gugungpal (eight acupressure points around tailbone) point is located. Comfortably lying down, I use it to relax my back, from above the gugungpal points, down to my tailbone, which is frequently blocked.

Lying down with your knees bent, lift your buttocks and put the wooden pillow underneath it, then really stretch out your legs. Blockages there are released if you keep the pillow in place for about five minutes, but you can do it for longer or shorter if you like. It's refreshing, although it hurts a little bit at first.

Then, bend your knees again and gently shake your legs to the left and right, massaging each side of your sacrum. Move the wooden pillow up and down to relieve every part of this area. It feels like meditation as you sense your body relaxing deeply.

This is also good for menstrual cramps, blood and energy circulation in the lower body, aligning the hip joints and pelvis, and for the first chakra and genitals. I haven't come across anyone who hasn't loved this method in opening their pelvis.

To use it on your neck and relieve upper back pain and tension, relax the pelvis, ankles, and back, and put the wooden pillow under your neck. Gently shake your head side to side. This will help you fall asleep quickly and you'll even feel much lighter the next day.

After relaxing your pelvis, move on to your ankles. You can use the wooden pillow, but the ankle massager is better. Lie or sit down with your legs straight and place the wooden pillow or ankle massager under your lower calves, right above your ankles. Lift one leg off of the pillow, then switch and lift the other leg, and repeat, alternating your legs while massaging your calves.

Simultaneously lifting and lower both feet activates and strengthens the first and second chakras. This is great for building energy and recovery from fatigue.

Using an ankle massager activates the Bladder Meridian, which cleanses you of tension and fear and anxiety. This exercise also puts the mind at ease because the Kidney Meridian, which is a partner of the Bladder Meridian, is opened along with it. Stamina is also improved because the Kidney Meridian is connected with the first chakra.

When you feeling discomfort in your body, many times you find that focusing only on the physical aspects won't relieve it. However, moving your focus to energy makes a world of a difference, and previously unseen problems come to light.

"Energy is life." That really hits home for me. All natural healing happens when you really manage, control, and develop energy. I do breath work, and my awareness concerning the energy body is new every time. I experience deep healing occurring automatically.

The soul is also energy. If you awaken to the world of energy and develop yourself in this area, your soul will awaken and you'll feel that your soul and energy are one. So feeling that we are all one and creating a lifestyle to help each other is a bright hope. I always talk about this when I teach a class or have a session with someone.
