Whether it’s moving your car or your body, whether it produces a product on an assembly line or thoughts in your brain, energy is the unseen force at work in your life. Actually, everything is energy at its essence. Different objects with different physical properties are just different vibrations of the same energy. Energy is what you will find in everything if you look into it deeply enough. Sometimes we can even recognize its presence with our senses.
In physics, there are four fundamental categories of energy: gravity, electromagnetism, the weak nuclear force, and the strong nuclear force, which are supposed to have been one unified energy in the beginning of the universe. However, all observable and therefore measurable energy in nature explains only 5% of the energy that should be there in the universe to make the universe the way it looks and works. Ninety-five percent of the energy of the universe is unseen or dark. We don’t know where it is or in what form. This little-known observation opens up the possibility for a greater understanding and experience of energy.
In fact, ancient cultures around the world, notably those from East Asia and the Indian subcontinent, have described a type of energy that you can experience directly. This kind of energy circulates through the body, giving it the strength and vitality it needs. East Asian cultures believe it moves through the body in specific cycles in pathways called meridians. It enters and exits the body through visible holes such as the nose and mouth and invisible holes such as the points on the skin utilized in acupuncture. The idea of energy centers is also common, such as the presence of seven chakras along the spine and at the top of the head, in which energy gathers and spins in a spiral.
As the underlying essence of everything we are and everything we do, energy is the unseen force necessary for growth, development, and change.
