No matter how hard we try to do or be what we want, our own thoughts can hold us back. They can keep us caged in our past or our worries. It’s not only negative thoughts that can sabotage our ability to evaluate situations clearly and to act quickly and confidently. Positive thoughts and circumstances that we’re afraid of losing can make us hesitant to change or try something new.
But how can you escape your thoughts? They are always there, inside
your mind, wherever you go. We can try to empty our minds of thoughts, but it may seem like only experienced meditators can truly do that.
Energy meditation, however, can help you clear your thoughts and free your mind, even if you’re just a beginner to meditation. Your thoughts make energy and energy makes thoughts. So you can purposefully use energy to manage your thoughts.
The following 4 energy meditations from the book,
Connect: How to Find Clarity and Expand Your Consciousness with Pineal Gland Meditation by Change Your Energy founder and
New York Times bestselling author Ilchi Lee, guide you to focus on the subtle energy of your body and brain and use it to clean out old energy. They then show you how to fill yourself with fresh energy and help it to flow well. Through these meditations, you can feel more present, calm, and clear, with a mind that’s both connected to your body and to the rest of the universe.
1. Meditation for Letting Go of Attachments
Our recurring thoughts and fixations can clog up our mind. This simple meditation shows you how easy it is to dump them out. It’s helpful to do this meditation first to help you focus on your body’s energy more easily.
2. Meditation for Sensing Energy
This meditation shows you how to feel your own energy with your hands. It’s the most basic form of energy meditation. Just by sensing energy, your mind can automatically begin to quiet. Called Jigam in Korean, this energy meditation is helpful preparation for deeper energy meditation.
3. Meditation for Brightening Your Brain
Use your hands to feel the
energy of your brain and send bright, new energy to it. By filling your brain with bright energy, you can make your brain more positive without getting weighed down by the happiness and pleasure of the past.
4. Meditation for Healthy Energy Flow
Activate the
crown chakra at the top of your head and bring fresh energy into your body. Instead of only refilling your brain, help energy to flow down through all of your chakras. We are calmer and have less racing thoughts when we bring energy down from our head and fill up our core, the energy center in our lower abdomen.
Combine each of these 10-minute meditations for a deep cleaning of your thoughts and wide expansion of your mind. But if you have less time, practicing one meditation is still helpful. Though daily practice is ideal, the more you practice energy meditation, the more quickly your thoughts will quiet each time.
