For most people,
meditation is associated with relaxation and peace of mind, and these are the practical reasons many people seek out, learn, and practice meditation. However, relaxation and peace of mind are only half of the uses for meditation. Another, probably more important aspect, is for creation.
Broadcast Your Creative Intention to the Responsive Universe
For creative meditation, I suggest you consider the following two concepts that I’ve developed:
LifeParticles and
MindScreen.
LifeParticles are the smallest elementary particles that make up all things. In essence, they are particles of Energy-Consciousness that the mind can focus and direct to manifest into reality.
LifeParticles can be visualized as beams of bright particles of light that can be sent to yourself, another person, or a certain situation. The moment you focus on something, LifeParticles can be immediately sent to it, materializing your intentions in the physical world.
The MindScreen is the space where LifeParticles—the unity of energy and consciousness, the primary stuff of creation—work. In your MindScreen, you the creator; the MindScreen, the space for creation; and LifeParticles, the stuff that you use for creation, are one. What you see when you close your eyes is not just the back of your eyelids. It is the vast space of Energy-Consciousness, which is vibrating with limitless possibilities of creation. It is like a fertile land that is waiting for seeds to be sown.
This space of Energy-Consciousness is boundless and thus encompasses the entire universe. The stuff that you use for your creation is the same stuff that constitutes the universe. Therefore, when you use
LifeParticles, you are using a language with which the entire universe can understand and resonate. When you create something in your MindScreen with LifeParticles, you are broadcasting your creative intention to the responsive universe. Your ideas, thoughts, and intentions are the seeds of creation, and your attention is the powerful tool that drives energy toward the object or outcome you want to create. Your positive emotion and passionate action add power to the creative process.
As I will explain below, you can develop your sensitivity to feel LifeParticles. By using relaxed focus, you can feel and direct the flow of LifeParticles in your MindScreen. It’s like feeling the clay while shaping a figure with your hands. In the MindScreen, the hand, the clay, the figure, the image that you want to create, and the intention to create it are all one. Just as an artist, his/her tools, and the materials for creation work together in a genuine creative work, when you work with LifeParticles in your MindScreen, your intention, MindScreen, LifeParticles, and your creation all work together. They are different in form, but in essence, the same LifeParticles.
When you are deep into a creative meditation, sometimes you lose the sense of which one is which because everything moves in a harmonious resonance. Through Creative Meditation, you can have a tangible feeling of creation.
A Five-Step Flow of LifeParticle Meditation
The flow presented here is the simplest version that anyone can practice easily. Even though these are presented as steps to understand the process more clearly, there’s no separation between steps. They are a single flow. Let’s begin.
1. Release Your Tension
Assume a comfortable position, either sitting or standing, and begin by gently turning your head from side to side. Continue this turning while you also
tap your lower abdomen lightly. This simple movement will relieve the tension from your neck and strengthen
the energy center at your lower abdomen. This creates the energetic condition for optimal functioning of our body and brain:
Cool Head, Open Chest, and Warm Abdomen.
2. Calm Your Breathing
Breathing slowly and deeply calms your mind and brings your attention to your body. Simply by becoming aware of your breathing, your mind will be present in the now, since breathing is always occurring in the now. Counting your breaths can be helpful because to count your breaths, you need to be aware of your breathing. Count 10 breaths, and your breathing will naturally become deep and slow. Feel the emptiness at the pause between breaths. This will bring a state of relaxed concentration, enabling you to feel a subtle sense of energy.
3. Feel Energy
Slowly raise your hands in front of you, with palms facing each other. Focus on your palms and
feel the subtle sense of energy. Remember that what you are feeling between your palms and what you really are, are one and the same—Energy, or LifeParticles. The entire universe, on its fundamental level, is made up of the same Energy-Consciousness. On that level of pure being, all are one. Play with the energy by slowly opening and closing your arms. Enhance and expand your sensation of the flow of LifeParticles from your hand to your arms to your whole body. Stay connected with the feeling of the flow.
4. Open Your MindScreen
Maintain the sense of LifeParticles on your hands and raise your hands, palms facing each other, up to the level of your forehead. Visualize a ball of LifeParticles like the sun between your hands. Feel the light and vibration of the sun of LifeParticles flowing into your brain, and spreading down through your spine to your entire body. Expand the sun of LifeParticles onto a three-dimensional screen around you. It is your MindScreen.
You are now in the creative space of consciousness. Visualize what you want to
create on your MindScreen. Use all your senses. Imagine the sound, smell, and touch of your creation. Feel the tangible sensation of what you are creating by the sense of energy on your hands. It will be like shaping an object using clay or dough. Because your hand and energy work together in resonance, sometimes the distinction disappears, and all becomes one in the harmonious flow of
LifeParticles.
For example, your hand moves, following the feeling of the flow of energy—but the movement itself also creates the flow. So sometimes it feels like your hand leads the process, and other times it feels like the energy flow guides your hand movement. During this dynamic exchange, the sense of separation vanishes, and the feeling of creation becomes clearer and more tangible.
5. Offer a Prayer of Gratitude
Bring your hands together in front of your chest.
Offer your gratitude for your creation. Remember how you attained everything that you have now. Having something started from wanting it. Didn’t it? Wanting something is the beginning of the process of having it.
When you want something and you don’t have it, it may be a cause of stress to you. However, if we reflect on how we came to have things that were not there originally, we can be excited, delighted, and grateful that we want something even before we have it. Seen from this perspective, wanting something—or more specifically, being able to want something while it is not there yet—is already a gift in itself. This is why we offer gratitude.
This is the simple flow of LifeParticle Meditation. It will take just about 5 to 10 minutes, so you can easily practice 2 or 3 times a day. This will help you stay focused on your goal with a positive attitude. This positive focus will help you align your actions toward achieving your goal. With this integration of attention and action, you can make things happen more effectively.
