Flow and Light: The Art of Karina Woldt

For Karina Woldt, the power of art to connect us to what matters most begins with the natural world and its energy. Her paintings are known for their vivid colors and transcendent light, reflecting her deep commitment to spirituality and the healing power of nature.

She writes:

“I started my art-journey initially due to both a passion in art and the need to escape mental health struggles in my home environment. Art has enabled me to stay mindfully focused and has been immensely transformative. I thus want to share the healing aspect we can find in nature with my audience…

Themes I am currently drawn to often return to mindfully observing, noticing wisdom and our interconnectedness with nature. Thus, bringing the energy found in nature’s elements of light, flowing movement of water for example, back to life in my paintings. My ultimate aim is to communicate a sense of resilience and hopefulness to my audience with my artwork.”

Where Art, Mindfulness, and Nature Meet

Born in Germany and now based in the Scottish Borders, Karina has been immersed in art since childhood. She holds a degree in Fine Art, and her creative journey stretches back over four decades of exploration, study, and practice.

Alongside being an artist, Karina is also a psychologist and mindfulness teacher. These threads of her life intertwine, giving her work a contemplative depth. She works with mixed media, combining palette knives, brushwork, and layers of light and color to create vivid pieces that feel alive.

But above all, her style is an ever-evolving conversation between the physical world and the inner landscape of the soul. At the heart of Karina’s work is a philosophy that challenges us to live fully: life is change, and change is flow.

She explains:

“My art and spiritual journey has been heavily influenced by mindfulness and Taoism. In nature as in life, nothing is permanent and everything is connected, everything flows. Thus nature teaches us this sense of going with the flow, that things always change and are constantly shifting. In our darkest moments that truth can give a lot of hope and energy.”

Karina paints not to escape life’s challenges but to move through them, guided by the wisdom of the natural world. In this way, her work becomes medicine for the spirit.

An Invitation to Flow

In a world that’s always moving faster, Karina Woldt’s paintings open a doorway into a slower, healing place where resilience and presence can take root. Her work reminds us that no matter what the changing currents of life bring, we can find our ground in flowing with it.
