Reconnecting with Yourself through Bird of the Soul Art

Most of us have experienced coming out of a busy stretch of life and realizing we feel kind of far away from ourselves. Not necessarily lost, but that connection to our inner being is dimmer than usual. Maybe the days have been full of good things, hard things, or just keeping up with all the things.

Somewhere in the middle of all that motion, a deeper connection to ourselves gets left behind. It's the accumulation of days spent mostly outward-looking, or busy, or just somewhere other than here.

If that feeling is familiar, this painting is for you.

Bird of the Soul #27

Bird of the Soul #27 is part of Jisu Han's Bird of the Soul series. It's a collection of vibrant paintings rooted in the Bird of the Soul storybook written by Change Your Energy founder Ilchi Lee. Jisu Han was the illustrator of the book, and she spent time immersing herself in the imagery and the meaning behind it.

See the radiant, bright bird set against that warm yellow that fills the canvas like morning light. The whole painting vibrates with aliveness. Jisu Han's work is rooted in her meditation practice, and has always been full of energy in this way—vibrant and joyful. For the Bird of the Soul series in particular, that brightness carries the energy of the luminous soul that lives inside you.

The Story Behind the Symbol

The Bird of the Soul storybook is a sweet story that resonates with readers of all ages. Ilchi Lee says that it's not only his own personal story, but he also believes it’s many people's story.

In it, a young boy named Jay has a bird of the soul—a sweet, singing companion that has always been with him. From the very beginning, the bird's message is simple: "You have me."

But Jay is human, and as he grows up, life becomes full. Things get busy, loud, and complicated. He doesn't mean to lose touch with his soul bird, but he gets caught up, as we all do, and little by little, he stops hearing its song.

But the bird doesn't go away. It’s just harder to hear when all of Jay's attention is somewhere else.

(We won't give away how the rest of Jay's story unfolds, but you can check out the book here.)

Alive with Possibility

Notice in the painting that the slender branches hold small flower buds. Each one is perfectly whole and full of everything it is destined to become. The buds are ready, but they're waiting for the right moment to open.

If there's something in your life that feels like it hasn't bloomed yet—a hope you're carrying, or a part of yourself you haven't fully stepped into—remember that its potential is already here. It's just waiting for the conditions to be right, and the conditions for opening are often closer than we think.

Your Soul Bird Is Singing

Here's what the story and the painting reflect back to us: your soul never abandons you. Not in the hard seasons, not in the years you spend running around chasing things, not in the stretches where you feel disconnected from yourself. Through all of it, your soul bird has been and is still there—singing, waiting for you to turn your attention back toward it.

When you do, you reconnect with the heart. You reconnect with the energy of something greater than you, and you create the conditions for those buds to bloom.

Through love for whomever or whatever you love. Through gratitude for your life, even the imperfect and ordinary parts of it. Through hope for what is still possible. These are the ingredients of a life lived in connection with your soul. This is how you tune back into the part of you that has never stopped being full, bright, and wonderful.

Come Back to Yourself

As you look at this painting, imagine your own bird of the soul. You might put your hands on your heart, hold your attention there, and notice what happens. The bird of your soul responds to being seen. Maybe something inside you gets a little closer and a little more awake.

This is what Jisu Han's paintings express—the truth that the soul is luminous, and the more attention you give it, the brighter it becomes. The painting is a mirror for your soul’s energy, a place that you can return to, to replenish that feeling.

Bird of the Soul in Your Home

With its joyful yellow and radiant energy, Bird of the Soul #27 is a natural fit for a kitchen or living room—anywhere you gather, begin your day, or want a bright reminder to check in with yourself. You don't have to sit in meditation to reconnect with your soul bird. Sometimes you just need to glance up from your coffee, your conversation, or whatever you're doing, and remember.

Every time you pass the painting, it says what the bird in the storybook says: "You have me."
