We Are All Shining: A Meditation on Jisu Han's Light of Life #25
In today’s blog, we bring you inspiration and a meditation to connect you to the light within, through a very special painting.
Jisu Han, whose work has been part of our Energy Art Gallery since 2023, created Light of Life #25: We're All Shining especially for us to mark our 13th anniversary this month. For the first time at CYE, the original painting of this piece is available in our gallery alongside prints.
The Light Inside Each of Us
Light of Life #25 belongs to Jisu's ongoing Light of Life series, work born from her experiences in deep meditation, when the boundaries between all things dissolve and we become one with everything.
At the center of the painting is a small light. Color and energy spread outward from the center, as Jisu describes it, “like a heartbeat, a flower opening, or a universe coming to life.”
The light in the painting is also a reflection of what is inside each one of us. In Jisu's words, "We are all beings who already shine. That light is not something bestowed from the outside; it is an essential energy that emanates from deep within us."
The small white birds moving through the piece are her Birds of the Soul, representing the part of us that stays whole and untouched no matter what we go through, "the part of us that is forever free, whole, and alive," as Jisu puts it. No matter what we experience, this essence can never be damaged or lost.
Jisu chose this piece for our anniversary because she has felt that the CYE community has always encouraged people to discover their inner light and allow it to shine more fully.
Meditating with Light of Life #25: We’re All Shining
Rather than trying to “understand” the artwork, we invite you to encounter your own inner self through it. If you'd like to spend time with this painting that way, try this meditation:

- Find a comfortable seated position facing the painting, either the artwork itself or an image of it. Take a few slow, soft breaths as you let your shoulders soften and your body settle.
- Rest your eyes on the small light at the center of the painting. Let your focus be relaxed, so you can also sense the rest of the painting in your peripheral vision.
- As you inhale, imagine that light beginning to pulse, gently, like a heartbeat.
- As you exhale, feel that same pulse echoed somewhere inside your own chest like a small light of your own.
- Continue breathing gently this way for several rounds, letting the light in the painting and the light within you move in the same rhythm.
- Now, notice the small white birds moving through the piece. Let them remind you of the part of yourself that stays whole no matter what you've been through or ever will go through.
- With your next few breaths, imagine the inner light beginning to spread outward, the way it does in the painting, gently reaching your fingertips, the crown of your head, the soles of your feet. Let it keep spreading past the edges of your body, out toward the people in your life, then further still, out into the world.
- If your attention drifts, simply return to the small light at the center, both in the painting and inside you.
- When you're ready to close, take a few final breaths and silently repeat Jisu's words to yourself: we are all already shining. Carry that with you as you go about the rest of your day.
Thirteen Years of Shining Together
As we celebrate our 13th year as Change Your Energy, we let Jisu’s painting also remind us that our community grows brighter each time someone new steps into it, or each time any one of us rediscovers and shares our light. We’re truly grateful for your presence here, and we hope Light of Life #25: We’re All Shining opens you to the awareness Jisu intended: that you are, and always have been, already shining.
Ready to bring this light into your space? Light of Life #25: We’re All Shining is available throughout August as a framed paper print, a framed canvas print, or as the original painting made directly by Jisu's hand. All three editions are available only through August in celebration of our 13th anniversary.
